Therefore encourage one another with THESE words.

What words?  These words:

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.   Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Words about the Ressurection.  Words about Jesus’ return.  Words about an eternity with Christ and the saints who have gone before us.

Not these words:

The dead in Christ is now an angel watching over us.

They are not.  Angels are not dead Christians.    Angels are created beings made long ago, not upon the death of each Christian.  And as far as watching over us, the Scriptures leave that work to God himself.  Can the dead in Christ “see” us?  We do not know and that is why this is not a good encouragement.  Only the truth brings true comfort.  ((See Colossians 1:16-17))

The truth is this.  Jesus will return.  We will be reunited.  A new heaven and earth are our inheritance.
