Theophobia

I get accused of a lot of phobias.  Homophobia, Islamaphobia, you name it.  But I must explain to those that accuse me of such things that they do not understand my real phobia:  Theophobia.  Fear of God.  And no, not  a “Oh no, big mean nasty Almighty in sky” fear.  But in an “Abba, Heavenly Father, Holy and Merciful” fear.

This I believe:  “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”  When God says that marriage is a lifelong union between man and woman,  I trust that counsel as wise.  When it says that only those who confess Jesus as the only way to salvation know the Father, I find insight.

My brain does not always reason the goodness of his Word initially.  My flesh wars against it.  But the Spirit allows me to subject my own estimations and desires to his.  If I fear anything you like, it is because the fear of the Lord has taught me so to fear.  I understand that many of you do not make your opinions in this way.  But I hope you understand that my individual opinions about issues flow from theophobia, not anything else.
