Political discourse is littered with talk of God. Perhaps the the most iconic example is the near obligatory: God bless you and God bless 
the United States. I make a challenge today. Go to your town hall meetings or write letters. Ask this simple question: When you reference God, which God are you referring to? Record their response and post it somewhere.
Why? Because American Civil Religion is leading many of God’s people astray. They, so wrapped up in the political discussion, are forgetting that not all who call on God believe that there is one God revealed in one Godman Jesus Christ, one Spirit bearing witness. I do not want you to ask for the sake of proper political discourse, but for the sake of those who are being deceived in their listening to it.
Which God matters.
