For many blogs, having 15,000 views in a day would be exciting. I have 15,000 views total for all the days my blog has existed. But I am no less excited. I remember the days when getting over 10 views a day was exciting. Somebody was actually reading what I was writing.
I still have days that are awful close to single digits, but I also have some days where nearly 200 people stop by and consume a little of what I have served up. First, thank you for reading. It makes the writing side worth it. It truly makes time spent writing more easily recognized as good stewardship of the time and talents entrusted to me.
I started this blog as a hobby more or less. But I truly have come to see it as perhaps the best way I have to teach and proclaim things a little farther from the center of the faith. On Sunday morning, the time in the pulpit must be devoted to the main thing, salvation in Christ delivered through Word and Sacrament. Oh other topics are touched as law specific to the people and gospel that is specific to that law is proclaimed, but it is hard to delve into any one topic too far without neglecting the main thing.
Here I can lay out things in a little more complete (although admittedly brief) way. People read them that would never step into a bible study. Some read them that would never step in a church. I am able to interact with my readers through comments. I am able to gage whether my point is understood, whether I have communicated effectively.
Again, thanks for reading. Please, feel free to comment away on each post. Hopefully the next post will be noting 150,000 views, but really, that is up to you, isn’t it? Read. Then Share. Pretty Please?
Congrats! 15,000 ain’t too shabby. And remember, the quality, not the quantity of the views is what’s important. Jesus touched only one Samaritan woman one afternoon … but we got John 4 out of it! Peace, Pete
