At the Head of the Table of Duties

It seems to me that often when we look at the table of duties [1. The Tables of Duties is a list of scriptures provided by Martin Luther in his Small Catechism which speak directly to how people are to live out in their various God-given roles the newness of life given to them in Baptism] we focus our teaching on what those people under the authority of someone else is to do.  Wives Submit.  Children Obey.  Members yield.  This is especially true when the discussions happen spontaneously in the places where these relationships truly are worked out.

In a series of posts this month, I hope to reflect upon what it means to sit at the head of the table of duties.  We will look at what the new life we have in Christ looks like for husbands, parents, pastors, bosses, and others entrusted with authority.  I hope you will read these posts, add your insight, and share them with friends and peers.
