We are not alone

Jaimee and I are not alone…although we have overshot by 2 I guess. But we are considering moving to Russia where $10,000 per kid is offered to encourage childbearing. They know what we forget, that having less kids than parents makes for an old and needy society.
When this story was on the news tonight, did I mention that they quoted in opposition Paul R. Ehrlich who assured us in 1964 that by the seventies that many would die from mass starvation due to overpopulation…why are we still listening to him? It is sort of like believing the religious nuts that have three or four times predicted the exact date for the end of the world.

Babies Are Booming in the U.S.

Babies

The fertility rate in the United States is now at its highest level since the end of the baby boom more than 35 years ago, a circumstance that makes the United States somewhat unusual among industrialized countries.

In 2005, there were two children born for every American woman. Last year, the so-called “fertility rate” rose to 2.1 children for every woman. That’s still nowhere near what it was during the height of the baby boom, when the rate hovered somewhere between three and four kids per family.
