I usually think more before I post, but I am watching Obama on Stem-Cell Research and I am compelled to comment now:
1. He says we must trust fact over ideology. As if science is fact and not theory. As if faith has nothing to say about our actions, scientific or not. When, Tom tell me, will postmodernism crawl over the walls surrounding science and reveal science as ideology and not pure fact. He went on to say that cloning would never be okay….right, until some group of scientists claim if might cure something and find a “superman” to support it. And he speaks as a “man of faith,” who then says ideologies (read faith) should not have any say on what we do.
2. He said that we should not overstate cell stem research’s possible reach, and then went on to suggest that it would take the word terminal out of our vocabulary as if this research might end death as we know it.
3. He also said we can now do this without moral questions…does he realize the prime moral question is not whether or not this is done with some sort of great protocol, but whether destroying life to save it is moral. You can not do this research without dealing with that moral question, regardless of protocol, Mr President.
3. He did not mention adult stem cell research at all. ( If I am wrong, please correct me. I might have missed it because my brain was flying)
I want to say more, but I will breath before I comment on how this reflects upon his faith.
