In baseball, when someone hits a foul ball, the coach says “Straighten it out.†There is quick recognition that regardless of how hard the player hit the ball, it has no benefit if it goes foul. No one can advance.
In theology, we seem to have lost such understanding. False teaching touted with great passion in nothing but a foul ball. It has no benefit to the Kingdom. No one can advance.
It is great when a player hits a fair ball with great power. It is awesome when good theology is extoled with great passion. But if it is a foul ball in baseball or theology the advice is simple, “Straighten it out.â€
