Collect Proper 12:
O Lord, let Your merciful ears be attentive to the prayers of Your servants, and by Your Word and Spirit teach us how to pray that our petitions may be pleasing before You; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God now and forever. Amen
I must admit this prayer seems odd to me. It suggests at face value that there is a how to pray that makes our prayers pleasing to God. Our prayers are pleasing to God because of Christ alone. Through his work do we approach the throne with confidence.   The request to teach us how to pray is more than appropriate of disciples, but we ask not to please God, but because we understand that he desires to please with with his gifts. Anyone else?
